Spring-the most inspiring of all the seasons has arrived. During spring the natural world revives after the cold winter months. Dormant plants begin to grow again, and dormant homes & cottages reopen along Michigan’s shore.
We at Third Coast Home & Boat Concierge have been busy helping our clients re-open their homes and arrange for their boats to be launched in anticipation of the delightful promises of summer. Tulip time is upon us in the Holland area, the school year is swiftly drawing to a close and Memorial Weekend beckons.
With the official start of the season around the corner, here are some things we love about this changing season on the shores of languid Lake Michigan.
1.) There is more daylight-Hooray for the sun. Those extra hours of daylight can be a major mood booster.
2.) For Michigan, there is no better indicator of spring than birds chirping outside your window. Much like the snowbirds, their northern migration starts in March and continues through June.
3.) The leaves are budding that fresh young florescent green reminiscent of spring, before the darker green of summer sets in. The cool canopy we enjoy in Saugatuck and Douglas helps to regulate the temperatures to at least 5-10 degrees cooler than Chicago.
4.) The flowers are in bloom, as is abundantly clear from the fantastic tulip blooms on display in Holland during this week’s Tulip Time parade.
5.) We can take our exercise outdoors, exercising outdoors increases energy levels, makes people feel revitalized, and decreases tension, among other positive effects. We personally love to exercise on the many trails the South Haven area has to offer. Did you know South Haven was named Trail Town by the Michigan DNR?
6.) Boats are back in the water, and there is no better river route in spring, when Lake Michigan can be a bit fickle, than Lake Kalamazoo to the Cove on the Kalamazoo River.
